The Great Gatsby
Review
The great Gatsby was a classic style icon that started a style movement of art Deco, he was the most famous fashion icon of the twentieth century, in the 1920’s it was a decade when fashion entered the modern era and the art Deco style flourished.
I think Art Deco played a big part in the 1920’s fashion as it was bold elegant and modern.
The roaring twenties was a time of excess and decadence, clothes played a big part during that time , they were a symbol of liberated lifestyle.
The 1920’s was a period of extreme change, woman wanted to look like iconic screen idols of the day, fashion also meant freedom, woman found more independence, they were more sexually liberated, working and had won the right to vote, so fashion began to reflect that, the girls wearing the latest fashions were called ‘flappers’, 3 piece suits, hats, canes, slick back hair, sequin dresses, headbands, feather clothing and accessories, big bold jewellery were all a big part of fashion in the 1920’s as well as elegant classy but bold make-up.
The Genre The Great Gatsby belongs to are, Fiction, Novel and Drama.
